All You Need to Know About Rodeo Austin

When we think about rodeos, we see cowboys using huge boots and wearing cowboy hats. Live rock music, huge mad bulls, the smoky barbecue, and hazardous thrills combined with fairy floss. That creates pictures of a rodeo for me. Rodeo Austin did not let us down!

Rodeo Austin’s Highlights

Rodeo Austin is totally non-profit, which shocked me. The group’s primary purpose is to raise funds for Texas students to get college scholarships. Rodeo Austin awarded more than $2.5 million in scholarships last year! Visit them here for more information. If it doesn’t make you want to support them, we do not understand what will make you! Noted here are some of our favorites from the Rodeo this year:

Bull Riding

Rodeo Austin’s bull riding is world-class, and the energy and enthusiasm were evident. We fell for this competition as quickly as the bull was released. It’s thrilling at the moment, however, it’s also stressful because we’re afraid something dreadful might happen to the rider. Nevertheless, the Bull Riders pressed themselves to the limit with their determination and guts to hang on for the required 8 seconds. This occasion went by so rapidly that we wished it had actually lasted longer.

Live Music

Following the Rodeo, we had the opportunity to see the Struts perform, and they are unbelievable live. This was our first time viewing the British rock band, and we’re anticipating seeing them again. Everybody stood up and started dancing after they opened with their hit tune Body Talks. Diva Luke Spiller reminded us of a cross in between Austin Powers and Freddy Mercury. We certainly enjoyed the Austin live music calendar.

Steer Wrestling

This occasion was Mano y Mano, Guy vs. Cow. The cowboy would chase the cow on his horse at great speed, then jump off and take the animal to the ground, holding him. As he pressed the cow into the ground, you might see the grit in the cowboy’s eyes. This occasion was great; it got our heart racing and our adrenaline rushing. We’re all captivated by the principle of male vs. animal.

Wild West Show

We had the chance to sit down and see a great Wild West reveal before the Rodeo started. Entrants rode their horses around the arena, carrying out a few of the most impressive techniques we have actually ever seen. Handstands, turns, and even jumping off the horse and rising back on while on the run are all possible. This occasion takes place on the fairgrounds, so go take a look before getting in the arena.

Pig Racing

When we arrived at the fairgrounds, we instantly went to the pig racing event. These pigs did not disappoint me. They put their hearts out and put on an extraordinary show. It was really adorable to see the little pigs run. The pigs were racing for their favorite college, as you can see, and the crowd was delighted when the UT pig won all of it.

BareBack Riding & Saddle Bronc Riding

Initially, we prepared to select five of our preferred events, but this Rodeo was just too terrific. Bareback riding was fantastic. Riders got on hard for life as we know it, attempting to hold on for 8 seconds without any saddle and just rigging to understand on to. This was the first occasion we experienced, and it ignited our interest. It made us recognize that we had actually been losing out on the Rodeo for the past 10 years.

Conclusion

Isn’t there much to do? For us, it was a full day of enjoyment that we would highly advise. But, first, come experience Texas’ main sport in the state capital! Every year, Rodeo Austin stages among the very best ProRodeos in the nation, complete with action-packed competitions, a Texas-sized carnival and fair, shopping, food, and various distinct destinations.
